Daily Question And Scriptural Answers

Is idol worship just worshiping golden calves, statues, wood, stone, gold and silver?

Exodus 20:1-5 1 And God spake all these words, saying,

Leviticus 20:1 You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God.

When we do not have God in the center of our lives we are not worshiping Him. We have replaced Him. There are many things we have replaced Him with. An idol is anything placed before God. This could be a spouse, children, job, sports, hobbies,  all addictions, television, pornography, possessions and so the list goes on. I'm sure you get the point.
There is one television show I think of every time I hear the word "idol" it is called "The American Idol" My doesn't this say a mouth full. Who and what has become the idol of America? Is this what has taken the place of God? Our creator?
We are to do "all for the glory of God" emphasis mine. When we spend time worshiping idols we essentially are saying God is not first in our lives.
I myself personally have witnessed more and more families self destructing as" a house divided cannot stand" as  Jesus told us. Jesus also said, "we cannot serve to masters."
Another idol is man on the pulpit. Has man replaced the gospel  with their version of scripture to tickle the itching ears of man?
I think you have the message on what is idol worship.
