When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Peace,

After praying this morning and asking Father God to reveal truth in a few areas I heard the still small voice, "Colossians 3." May the Holy Spirit reveal truth to you.

I am led to go verse by verse in this study. May those who have ears to hear, hear what the Holy Spirit is revealing. Amen?!?!

Verses 1-4. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Verse (1) Paul is speaking to the Colossian church and he is telling them to seek the things above where Christ sitteth. In verse (2) Paul goes on to tell the church to set their affection on things above and not on earth.

When we are truly following Christ we are dead to self and our life is now risen with HIM. Therefore we are not to be involved in the things of the world but we are to seek those things above where Christ sitteth. We are to be separate from the world and the things of the world.

Verse 5-9. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

If we are risen with Christ we are hidden WITH Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life shall appear at HIS second coming WE will also appear WITH HIM in glory. So, if we are risen with Christ as verse (1) states then why would we need to be raptured? We will come WITH HIM in glory. Amen?!?!

Verses 5-9 tells us that we must mortify (discipline) our members upon earth; we are to put to death those members that are causing us to sin the punishment is the wrath of Father God upon us. These members are mentioned above in verse (5).

Verses (7-9) goes on to say when we were not risen in Christ  we were walking as the "old man" in our members and deeds (8). BUT those who are risen with Christ have put off the "old man" and have been replaced with the "new man." Amen?!?!

Verses 10-14 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Verse (10) We die to the "old man" and we put on the "new man" we are renewed in the knowledge of HIM that created us. Verse (11) Goes on to say there is no bond nor free but Christ is ALL, and in ALL. Amen?!?! We are changed and we are God's elect. Let's PUT on Christ like qualities verse (12). By PUTTING these qualities  of Christ on we are also to forgive one another even as Christ has forgiven us. And as verse (13) says we are ABOVE all to PUT on charity (love) which is the bond of perfectness. Amen?!?!

Verses 15- 17 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

We are to let the peace of God rule in our hearts. Amen?!? We are called in one body. We are to be thankful for this calling always. Verse (16) We are to live the word of Christ and let it teach us richly in all areas. We are to lift one another in love and in the wisdom of Christ through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in our hearts of Christ. Amen?!!? Verse (17) Whatever we do in word or deed we do it all in HIS name, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Paul continues speaking to the people of Colossae Verses 18-21 18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Wives are to submit ourselves unto our own husbands. 1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Husbands are to love their wives and be not bitter. (20) Children you are to obey your parents in ALL things. (21) Fathers, do not upset your children and get them angry. There is danger in turning their hearts away and being discouraged in life. Edify them. Amen?!!?

Verses 22-25 22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

We are servants to God and we are to obey HIM. HE is our master. However, we do serve others in authority in this world. Father wants us to serve them fearing HIM. We are to serve them knowing Father God is watching us and we are to please HIM. Give it all you have knowing your reward on earth cannot compare to the reward of inheritance. Amen?!?! We will also receive for the wrong we have done. NO ONE shall escape this.

In HIM with love,
Cassie
