Has Elijah Come?

Peace,

Here is a study I was led to do. Let's look at these two verses in Matthew 17:11,1211 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come , and restore all things. 12But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed . Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

This is the study I was led to do. It is about Elijah. Many say Elijah has not come. But the words spoken by Jesus say, " That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not"

Let' s read on verse 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Many ask in what way could John the Baptist have been the return of Elijah? Well, we know he was not the literal Elijah. So what did Jesus mean? Let's see what the word says. In Luke 1:17 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Part of verse 17 says, "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah" Who is this verse speaking of? Let's look at Luke 1:13 13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard ; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. The verse is speaking of John the Baptist.

Elijah had returned in the spirit. John the Baptist went before Jesus in the spirit and power of Elijah. Amen?!!? It was not Elijah's physical, literal body which was to return. Amen!??

Let's look at these words by Jesus. John 6:6363 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

These same words were spoken about John the Baptist coming in the spirit and power of Elijah. Amen?!?!

This spirit and power comes from God above. Let's look at this power and spirit in the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost. verses 3, 4 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire,and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speakwith other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Jesus said, Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

In Jesus name with love,
Cassie
