I am led to do this study. I pray those who have ears to hear hear and those who have eyes to see are shown by the Holy Spirit. In Jesus amen.
Let's view some scripture first. Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
What is it we are being shown in the above verse. "this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart from me" Those who proclaim to KNOW Jesus speak of him to others yet their deeds and actions which come from the heart speak differently. Let's go on and see exactly what we are told about the heart.
Matthew 9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
Jesus know our thoughts. We cannot lie to Him. He sees all and knows all. When we think evil Jesus says, "this evil is in our hearts." From the biblical standpoint, our heart is not just the home of emotions. It's the center of our inner reality, the place of thinking as well as feeling, and especially the place of choosing. No matter how good we look on the outside, God knows what’s on the inside. Amen?!!? Get your heart in check !!!
Let's continue.. Matthew 15:8-118 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Jesus speaking the same words we heard in Isaiah. "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me." Jesus continues, "They do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
Jesus is trying to get the people to understand that what man is teaching is vain. It is NOT of God. Amen?!? What comes out of mans mouth defiles him. What goes into the mouth does not defile a man. Let's see what Jesus is speaking of that comes out of the mouth.
Peter did not understand what Jesus had spoken. So, Jesus told him. Matthew 15:18-2018 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
What proceeds from out of the mouth comes from the heart. Folks, did you get that. What comes out of the mouth comes from the heart. Jesus goes on to tell us those things that defile us. Those evil things we say and do come from the heart.
Lets move on.. Proverbs 4:23 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
The heart is the place of things believed, right or wrong, of things loved, or things hated, and of faith, both good and bad. We must keep it pure.
Proverbs 23:7 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Jesus said out of an unregenerate heart comes forth evil thoughts and deeds. When we repent and trust in Jesus and walk closer to Him everyday longing to be like Him we will live a much more peaceable life and our physical bodies will not suffer so. Proverbs 17:22 22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
