STUDY:Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Peace,

 I was led into the book of Colossians and was drawn to verse 13 and then was led to do a study. I pray the Holy Spirit reveals all truth in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Let's look at Colossians 1:13 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

There are some powerful words in that verse. Father God delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son Jesus.

What power of darkness did Father God deliver us from? Let's read what scripture says. In Isaiah 60:2For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

This  gross darkness that covers the minds of man is ignorance to the light. They have no knowledge or understanding. They cannot see the ways of God. Psalm 82:5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

This darkness is another word for sin. Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

When we are burdened with sin we walk in darkness. We stumble and fall. We continually fall deeper into the pit. There is only one way to make sure we do not stumble and fall and that is to walk in the light. Jesus is that light that the world cannot comprehend.

John 1:4,5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The life in Christ is the light of men. The soul that is stained in sin (darkness)cannot give light. John 8:12 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

What is it to be translated into the kingdom of Father God's Son? Luke 22:28-2928 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

We see in the above verse that Jesus spoke to the disciples of them being with Him during His temptations. Jesus overcame His temptations and by doing so Father God appointed unto Him a kingdom which Father has also promised to us. Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

We being translated as a new man in Christ and ridding ourselves of the old man. 1 Peter 4:14 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

Those who no longer live to their  flesh and to the darkness of the world are translated or transformed from the power of darkness (sin) into the kingdom of God.

1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

In Jesus with love,
Cassie
