Peace,
I was led this morning to Ephesians 2 while reading it something jumped out at me as if it were highlighted. May the Holy Spirit reveal all truth. In Jesus name. Amen.
Let's look at those verse. 2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
When reading this passage today I asked myself who is" the prince of the power of the air?" Is it Satan? Is it demons? If we read on it tells us that "the spirit" that now worketh in the children of disobedience. So the power of the air = spirit. This spirit drives "children" to be disobedient. These disobedient children live in the lust of their flesh. They fulfill the desires of the flesh and of the mind. So who is this prince?
Let's go to Ephesians 6:12 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Against "rulers of the darkness of this world" In chapter 2 verse 2 we see that those who are disobedient are walking according to the course of "this world." What is it about the world?
When we read the news and we read about the violence and chaos taking place today we know that it is not flesh and blood that we are wrestling with but the sin and darkness of the "world." When one is born again we are dead to the "world." Before we were born again we walked in disobedience and lived in sin. We were part of the "world." We were dead! Yes, we were not one with the Father.
So, who is this prince? Where does this spirit reside? I will leave you with those questions. However, I will add that when one fulfills the desires of the flesh and mind they are allowing this spirit to work disobedience in them. This is the same spirit we fight against.
In Jesus name with love,
Cassie
