Study: Matthew 28:20 and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Peace,

I am led to do this study on verses taken from Luke. Please pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance and truth. In Jesus name. Amen.

Here are the verses which I am led to share. Luke 4:16-21
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Let's look at verse 16 Jesus came back to Nazareth where he grew up as a child after His forty days in the wilderness. He read in the synagogue that sabbath day. Let's continue to verse 17 He was given the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened the book and read. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."  Then He closed the book.

Let's look at Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

So we know that Jesus was speaking of himself. That He was the anointed one. That He would preach the gospel (good news) and that He was the one who fulfilled the scripture that day.

He told the people present in the synagogue that their Messiah had come and that HE was the one they had been waiting for. Amen!?!!? But most of them missed what He was saying. Are we still missing what He is saying?

Jesus HAS come. Jesus IS alive today. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

In Jesus name with love,
Cassie

Gospel Of The Kingdom Of God said...

I am amazed sister at how many people miss Jesus and reject the Spirit and grace of God today, even many who profess to be Christians, But isn't that what the scriptures foretold would happen?

But glory to God that He has come down to dwell in those who are born from above, that all may know there is a God enthroned in Heaven with all Glory, might, and power.
